I live in Massachusetts. I was out on Maternity Leave and after my son was born, I was suffering from Postpartum Depression. My doctor signed me out on Disability and I have been collecting disability benefits from a private policy since then. I recently found out that since my FMLA ran out, my employer will not be holding my job for me. I do not know when I will be released by my doctor to return to work so it is not feasible to apply for jobs now and hope the timing works out. My question is that when my doctor finally releases me and says I am able to work, since I no longer have a position at my job will I be able to collect unemployment benefits while I try and find a new job?
