My job in Massachusetts made me travel to Texas for business for 5 months. My wife went with me to Texas. While we were there she got a temporary job in Texas. Technically we lived in Massachusetts because I was on travel, but should she have to pay state income tax to Massachusetts for her income in Texas?

We moved to Mass a year ago for my job. My wife has not returned to work. Quite honestly, she doesn’t want to return to work (stay at home mom) – can she potentially collect unemployment here now? Is she eligible?
Nevermind – I found the answer.
(which is of course NO by the way)
Hi,
I live in Massachusetts. I did a job last year for a company in New York. The job was in Massachusetts. The company said that the wages were reported to NY state so I need to file Non Resident income tax form. I have a question. The state, medicare & social security taxes does not get reported on the Massachusetts Form 1 right? I still have to report the wages for this company on the 1040 form right?
.
Thanks everyone for your help.
Hi. I just started a job as a waiter (first time) and am told I have to report my tips for my taxes. I thought tips were non-taxed? Also, they told me I only have to report those tips that were done by credit card? This sounds confusing…can someone clarify for me? I live in Massachusetts. Thanks.
I live in Massachusetts. I was just wondering, I have some deductions that I am claiming this year and I’m not sure if I’m allowed to claim them on both my federal and state returns.
I am deducting for Rent paid (Which I think is a state only deduction) and mileage between jobs for my work. I have done some research and have not seen anything in the federal returns for the rent paid, only in the state returns. However, the mileage I see in both.
- So what do I do? Any help would be great!
So i was filing my taxes with turbo tax freedom and it said i owe the state (massachusetts) money ($8) to be exact, i know it’s not much but i dont understand it my refund for federal is supposed to be 699 but why do i owe state money ? my friend is getting 650.0 and he earned less than me and only worked one job i don’t get it, should i just pay someone to do them for me ? On a different note i’m a full time student does anyone know how that works if your parent wants to put you down as a dependent ? would i get less money ? thanks anyone who answers if you need the numbers here they are : (2 jobs)
1 job:
Wages 5237.16
federal withheld:86.14
social withheld:324.70
medicare:75.94
state:blank
2nd job
wages:3958.23
federal:337.39

state:111.67
Sorry i was too general i mean hes getting 650 back for federal and state combined my estimate in turbo is 699, 40 more bucks and i worked 2 jobs so i would think i’d get back more . s just take them to a proffessional eh ?
by the way it seems odd that on job # 1 i got more social sec taken away than federal or is that normal if there is a possibility there might be a mistake who should i contact ? human resources ?
I just got my first job today. I am 16 and I’m getting $9 an hour. I live in Massachusetts. How much taxes is going to be taken away from this?
