My boyfriend and I signed a lease for an apartment for Sept 1st, while the current tenants were in the process of being evicted. From what the landlords told us (it’s 2 brothers) the tenants last day was during the last week of august and then they would only have to repair all the damage that they caused and we would be in. First of all he cashed the check for first and last months rent about 3 days after he got it, which was about 2 weeks before we moved in and I’m not sure if that’s allowed to be done. Second of all the last week of August turned into the September 2nd which turned into several days, and now the tenant has an extension from the court for another 2 weeks. The guy is ignoring all my phone calls, said once he’d call me and still hasn’t. We both currently are living out of boxes at our parents’ houses and have no place to go. Also, in the lease it says that if for whatever reason the landlord can’t deliver the premises on the move in date, then we have to give him 30 days to get his stuff together before we can break the lease. I don’t have 30 days, I work 2 jobs and go to school for architecture which I start in about 3 days, it’s almost impossible for me to be living at my parents house and not have all of my school stuff with me. I need more than anything to be set up in a permanent location so that I can get the ball rolling with school and be settled..I don’t know what else to do..I’m desperate and this slime ball will not communicate with me. someone PLEASE offer some good advice!!.. This is in Massachusetts by the way.
Coming from Massachusetts (Boston) where it cost a fortune to live…..
How can life not be so much easier moving to a large city like Louisville Kentucky where there has to be work available. Even a warehouse labor job, anything! Homes there are a third of the price compared to here in Massachusetts. Can someone give me a good reason not to relocate? Can someone convince me that it isnt any easier to make a living in Louisville. Two people working for 10 to 12 per hour should be able to afford a home and everything else and have no worries. You cant get a home up here for less than 250,000 (fixer upper 60 to 100yrs old).
How could Kentucky possibly be struggling like we do here in Mass? Half the population up here spend their lives in small apartments. I grew up in 900sq ft apartment building. I want out, Kentucky is so cheap! Can someone convince me otherwise?
I know i’ll miss everything you mentioned but the cost of living up here is nearly impossible for me to offer my family a home with a yard. I would have never thought about leaving if i hadnt already moved to Phoenix, AZ for 6 years and ive lived in Nashville, TN for 2 years. I loved both places but there is no place like the southern country filled with great personalities. I only moved back here so my kids could have family but now im regretting the financial part. Though it is great my kids have a family that loves them. I even went to college and that isnt doing anything for me up here in Boston. What other options do i have. I’m being forced out of my home state due to the extremely high cost of living with pretty low wages. You have to make atleast 100k for an income to get by with children. Good luck, Unless your a blue collar or yuppy.

Next year I would like to get a mobile home in Massachusetts. I work for a mortgage company and none of our investors do it. Or they require like 20% down. We do NH and Maine but not Mass. Does anyone know of any banks or mortgage companies that do the financing for mobile homes in Massachusetts?
i want to buy a apple macbook tomorrow cause this weekend in massachusetts there will be no sales tax. i was wondering if i should call in today to reserve one so that they wouldn’t run out. i am planning to go as soon as it opens. its just that if i don’t this weekend my parents won’t get it for me until i go to college in mt where there is no sales tax, but i don’t want to wait.
I just started out as a Realtor on the North Shore in Massachusetts. Not being from the area, I was looking for advice from any other agents or realtors on building up a decent client base. I know the market is slow here, as it is everywhere, but any advice would be appreciated. I have sent out cards to friends and family and am being trained, but would love to hear any input on the dos and don’ts.
We recently bought a new house. Gave notice to end our annual lease (Sept to Sept) June 1st. We closed on our new house in May – Lease ended in September. We paid Mays rent with our last months payment (first/last month paid at beginning of lease agreement). The landlord re-rented the apartment July 1st, and is asking for us to pay Junes rent. Are there any laws in Massachusetts specifically to breaking a lease due to a home purchase?
Got it. Thanks for the opinions, that’s all I was looking for.
