I’m a freshman in high school. I used to live in North Carolina and I loved it there. I had my best friends who I could tell everything to and rely on whenever, where ever. But my father didn’t really like his job. My father is a pioneer in neurosonology, so he got at least 20 job offers a month. However, he always rejected them because of me and my sister. He knew we loved North Carolina. But this year, he got a job offer from somewhere in Texas, and he knew it was a really good offer. He asked us what we thought of it, and we said it would be fine. I didn’t take him seriously because he asked us what we thought of a certain place for his job every year. But we actually moved. We’ve spent 7 months in this place and I **** it. The people are shallow, and not to mention stupid. They don’t believe in education because they are from rich families and don’t feel the need to go to college. They believe Texas is the best when they haven’t experienced anything else. I honestly think they only talk to me because my family has money. Not only that, people here are judgmental as well as extremely, almost to the point of being radically religious. We do not share any viewpoints. Also, living here has brought my GPA down, and also is ruining my chances of getting into Brown or Harvard. I was supposed to take two AP courses this year, but Texas does not let underclassmen take AP classes, so I’m stuck taking Pre-AP classes. I’m not challenged academically in class, and socially, I don’t like any of the people I talk to. I miss North Carolina and my best friends. Moving back to North Carolina isn’t an option, as it would make my father question his decision to move here. He really enjoys his job here, and he has been more successful than ever. I’ve never seen him happier. My mother honestly doesn’t care, she is happy as long as there is money coming in. So, I decided I would apply for Phillips Andover Academy and Phillips Exeter Academy, in Andover, Massachusetts and Exeter, New Hampshire, respectively. They are really good boarding schools for the students that want to go to a good college and push themselves academically. However, when I told my father, he seemed shocked. He blamed himself for me hating Texas. My mother said no, as Andover and Exeter are expensive. I told her I would apply for financial aid, and she told me that there are additional costs to boarding schools. Is she right? And even if she is, there are emotional bonds holding me here. How do I convince my parents boarding school is the right choice for me?

I drool over those makeover shows on TV (not Extreme Makeover, but like the stuff on Style network.) Hair, makeup and clothes make SUCH a huge difference in the look of a person, I am dying for that kind of makeover but I don’t know where to turn.

I live in Western Massachusetts but I could travel to Boston or Hartford. Where could I go to get professional consulting or help for a makeover including hair, how to do makeup, maybe some help to pick out flattering and stylish clothes?
