Amr R asked:
DEAN: “I grew up in a real small town. It was 17,000. It was actually better known for furniture. It’s the chair capital of the world – Gardner, Massachusetts.”
REPORTER: “From the forums and the debates I’ve gotten the impression that you grew up in a modest home?”
DEAN: “I certainly had a solid family. We had a nice house. My father was a sales manager, but I had the opportunity to work in high school because there were plenty of factory jobs available. I was also able to work when I was in college and law school at a paper mill. Back in the ‘70s that was a really good job to help pay for going to college at Columbia.”
