If a buy a car in Texas, can I register it in my home state of Massachusetts?

Kneel Before Zod asked:

I only intend to live in Texas temporarily, maybe less than a year.

Registering it in Massachusetts instead of Texas would save me at least $1000 in sales taxes up front.
I don’t currently own a car, but I may be moving to Texas soon. But, I don’t feel like buying a new car here in Massachusetts and then driving 1800 miles across the country.

I’d rather just buy the car there.

The reason I’m afraid of Texas taxes (…oy vey, what a tongue twister) is because Texas has no state income tax, so their sales and excise taxes are probably much higher than what we pay here in Mass.

In Massachusetts, we currently have two colors for the lettering on license plates: red and green.

is it just luck of the draw on what color you get or do they actually mean something?

Out of state plates and license in Massachusetts?

En V asked:

I recently moved to Massachusetts and am confused as to whether or not I have to get new plates. Does this mean that I also have to register the car again? I recently re-registered the car in my home state, is it possible to wait until that registration expires or must it be done right away?

Also, do I need to get an MA license as well?

Thanks in advance!

Carolanne M asked:

I don’t feel like paying $2,000 for insurance on a car that’s worth barely that, but I don’t know where to find a better deal. Any good resources for comparing rates? I’m in Massachusetts.

How to long from having a permit to a license in Massachusetts?

Hallie E asked:

I am 26 and getting my first license (I know, lame, but whatever, it happens). I currently have a permit in the state of Minnesota (even more lame) that would allow me to test for my license in early August. If I move to Massachusetts, how long would I have to wait to get a license? Would I be able to put my permit time in Minnesota towards a Mass. license? What is the standard wait for people my age there to begin with? Thanks!
